Fluoride strengthens tooth enamel and replaces important minerals that protect teeth from decay. Fluoride can even reverse the early stages of decay. Dr. Olson recommends using a toothpaste that contains fluoride daily. We also have a more concentrated fluoride varnish that we can place on your teeth to help prevent decay. Dr. Olson recommends this for all our pediatric and adult patients following their cleaning. It is a great preventative measure to help prevent cavities and decrease sensitivity. For patients that have undergone head and neck radiation treatments or that have very limited saliva flow, custom fluoride trays are highly recommended to be used daily.
